P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our client, who are currently seeking a Peripatetic Residential Child Practitioner to join their team based in Cambridgeshire on a full time, permanent basis.\n\nMain Responsibilities:\n\nTo ensure that the home you are working in is run in accordance with all statutory, regulatory and standards requirements including Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Care Standards Act 200, company Policies and Procedure.\n\nTo ensure all children have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all times and that they are safeguarded from harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation.\n\nTo maintain standards of good practice at all times, establishing purposeful and constructive relationships and appropriate role modelling so as to assist with children’s development, activities, education.\n\nTo ensure children feel safe in their home.\n\nTo provide a caring and nurturing environment where children are and feel safe from harm.\n\nTo act as keyworker to children, ensuring that all relevant children’s records are concise and kept up to date in line with company policies.\n\nTo work within the Ofsted regulatory framework.\n\nTo work to a Service Rota to secure 24 hour / 365 day service.\n\nTo undertake sleep ins.\n\nTo attend children’s reviews, case conferences and planning meetings as necessary.\n\nTo participate in the development of up to date care plans and risk assessments.\n\nTo work restoratively with all children.\n\nTo contribute to the delivery of a coordinated service through effective multi-agency liaison.\n\nTo assist in supporting the referral and move-on processes and responding appropriately to requests for the service, within the context of company Service policies.\n\nTo develop the children’s life skills.\n\nTo create timetables, activity planners and set appropriate boundaries for children.\n\nTo respond and record any safeguarding issues in relation to children in line with company policies.\n\nTo positively challenge unacceptable behaviour and support children’s emotional regulation.\n\nTo participate in and contribute to their own regular Supervision sessions, annual appraisal and service performance targets.\n\nTo ensure their communications contribute to an effective staff team including regular attendance at team meetings.\n\nTo assist in ensuring that the home is maintained to a high standard.\n\nTo liaise in a professional manner at all times with neighbours and the local community.\n\nTo ensure a timely response to any children's concerns.\n\nTo set high standards in respect to their own professional conduct and development.\n\nTo work flexibly across all children’s homes to support the needs of our young people.\n\nQualifications and Experience:\n\nRelevant qualification or course attendance certificates.\n\nAn NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or transferable qualification.\n\nGood standard of secondary education.\n\nDriving licence.\n\nExperience of working with children.\n\nRelevant educational and or professional qualification(s).\n\nAn appropriate Enhanced DBS check.\n\nFlexibility in approach to working in different children’s homes sometimes at short notice.\n\nNVQ 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) (Desirable)\n\nYouth Work qualification (Desirable).\n\nWork with disadvantaged children (Desirable).\n\nWork with looked after children (Desirable).\n\nRelevant academic study in Higher Education (Desirable).\n\nWork within a setting regulated by Ofsted (Desirable).\n\nPerson Specification:\n\nKnowledge of childcare legislation.\n\nKnowledge of looked after children.\n\nAbility to communicate well with colleagues and other professionals.\n\nPresentation skills.\n\nExcellent interpersonal skills\n\nCommitment to own personal development.\n\nResilience – ability to bounce back.\n\nAbility to relate to and communicate with children.\n\nAn understanding of a child’s development including physical and emotional needs.\n\nAbility to work with children who may have suffered past trauma and/or have significant attachment needs.\n\nUnderstanding and commitment to reflective practice.\n\nAbility to identify the needs of children.\n\nAbility to undertake regular sleep-ins.\n\nAbility to organise own workload and meet targets.\n\nAbility to contribute to a team approach to service delivery and problem solving.\n\nUnderstanding of Safeguarding children.\n\nUnderstanding of equality and diversity.\n\nMicrosoft Office.\n\nIf this is a role you are interested in, please apply online ensuring your CV is up to date
