Job description
Our client, a rapidly growing values-driven team in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a talented and motivated System Engineer with eDV Clearance to join their team. The role involves scoping, designing, and delivering mission-critical solutions to protect the UK. You will advise clients on system engineering best practices and ensure successful project delivery with minimal risk.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop project scopes and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
2. Facilitate workshops and meetings such as risk analysis, pre-mortems, technical design workshops, requirements elicitation
3. Design and plan the whole lifecycle approach for complex projects and programmes
4. Train and advise clients in System Engineering best practice
5. Organise and coordinate internal technical resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects, including delivery assurance and integration
6. Oversee the effective delivery of projects, ensuring they remain within scope and budget with managed risk
7. Delivery and management of System Engineering documentation, such as SEMPs
8. Creation and maintenance of System Engineering artefacts such as system models, plans, requirements, integration logic, test methodologies, etc.
9. Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs with the help of appropriate verification techniques
10. Prepare reports and present them to senior management as needed
11. Maintain strong relations with the client and all stakeholders
12. Analyse and manage risks to minimise negative effects on a project
13. Build and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
14. Prepare and review comprehensive project documentation
Job Requirements:
15. Degree level educated or equivalent experience
16. Strong technical ability and acumen to deep-dive into technical subject matter where appropriate
17. Experience working as a Systems Engineer within software, networking, digital, or cyber security
18. Experience working in a consultancy, large systems integrator, or public sector organisation delivering complex products and services
19. Experience in delivering projects as a Systems Engineer to defence, government, national security, or law enforcement organisations is desirable
20. Strong understanding of System Engineering tools, standards, techniques, and methodologies including delivery lifecycles (e.g., V-model, spiral, agile), technical risk management, and requirements management
21. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
22. Outstanding organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
23. Strong written and verbal communication skills
24. System engineering accreditation or relevant project management qualifications will be considered
