Basic Job Functions:
Responsible for assigned aspects of the maintenance and operation of utility-scale PV power plants. Duties include monitoring PV plant operation through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar PV systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems.
Experience:
* Minimum 1 year of experience in a related position.
Education:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* College or technical degree preferred.
* Electrical certifications, state, journeyman, etc., are a plus.
* Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
* Bending, kneeling, twisting, ability to lift up to 70 pounds, climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods. Ability to work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate uneven ground on foot.
* Ability to differentiate between different colors for managing color-coded wiring.
* Good hand-eye coordination.
Required Skills/Competencies:
* Understanding of electrical safety and arc flash standards.
* Ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental procedures.
* Experience with Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
* Knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
* Knowledge of local and electrical codes.
* Basic understanding of electrical schematics and prints.
* Understanding of electrical principles.
* Ability to retrieve relay files and documentation with oversight.
* Familiarity with CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
* Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office products).
* Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
* Self-directed, accountable, and critical thinking skills.
* Valid Driver’s License.
* Ability to complete NovaSource Technician Qualification Standards within 90 days of hire.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Achieve quarterly KPIs such as energy output, on-time maintenance, and plant efficiency.
* Maintain a safe work environment following company protocols.
* Ensure personal safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
* Follow Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief, and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
* Perform PM work including measuring, testing, and maintenance of site components.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
* Complete CMMS work orders thoroughly.
* Prepare procurement and vendor documentation.
* Ensure all reports and documentation are complete and filed.
* Participate in safety, environmental, and other training.
* Maintain 5S standards in the work area.
* Inspect and clean PV equipment.
* Verify SCADA site configuration.
* Adhere to vehicle maintenance and safety standards.
* Other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationships:
* Report to the senior site manager or supervisor.
* Tasks may be assigned by technical staff.
Travel:
* Travel may be required based on company needs.
