Our client is a leading business in its field at the beginning of a major business transformation covering people, process and technology. They have the ambitions to double the revenue of the business by maximising existing business streams and entering new markets.
In response to this, we are seeking a Business Analyst to support their transition to agile ways of working and to capture requirements for systems changes right across the business.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to create and work within Agile environments, coordinating across the Business and Process Owners to understand and analyse business requirements and translate and deliver workable solutions.
These solutions will sit across a number of different departments utilising agreed and appropriate technical solutions.While system development is key, there are also requirements for shorter term manual solutions e.g. excel models.
This role will be responsible for elicitation of requirements and documentation across multiple teams and creating momentum within Project delivery via the utilisation of the Azure Dev Ops Agile structure and effective sprint planning.
This roll will be required to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify a single vision, often with conflicting viewpoints across teams, maintain buy in to the vision and ensure it is reflected in the end solution.Stakeholder management and managing conflict will be a key skill in this role.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Act as a Proxy Product Owner, representing business and user interests during Agile ceremonies when the Product Owner is unavailable.
Support the Product Owner in shaping the product vision, roadmap, and strategic priorities.
Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritise requirements into epics, features, and user stories using Azure DevOps.
Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring stories are well-defined with clear acceptance criteria.
Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, and review meetings (including DeFuzz and Demo sessions).
Define and refine Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to validate assumptions and deliver incremental value.
Work closely with UX/UI teams to align requirements with user experience best practices, customer journeys, and accessibility standards.
Use UML to produce use cases, process flows, and sequence diagrams that clarify business processes and system interactions.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to clarify requirements and ensure delivered features meet business needs.
Communicate progress, risks, and scope changes effectively to manage stakeholder expectations.
Identify and drive process improvements to enhance Agile delivery and team collaboration.
Management of individuals and coaching business experts to think away from their current process to release optimal potential of change.
To produce documentation sufficiently detailed to allowwork to be able to commence across different functional areas.
To coordinate workload estimates, to feed into project planning and prioritisation work.
Support testing of new solutions and handover to the end business users with an appropriate level of supporting documentation.
Identify and understanding of risks within appropriate risk management structure.
Defining, delivering and championing change within the Business.
Skills And Competencies
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in Agile environments
Any exposure to Product Owner responsibilities highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, Backlogs, Work Items, Dashboards) preferred.
Working knowledge of UML for structured requirements and solution artefacts highly desirable.
Experience Managing a Product Backlog And Prioritising Competing Requirements.
Skilled in facilitating workshops, user story mapping, and requirements-gathering sessions.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
Familiarity with software delivery processes, DevOps principles, and cross-functional team collaboration.
