About Brigshaw High School
Welcome to Brigshaw High School, where our mission is to help each student forge their greatness. We believe that greatness is not just about academic achievement, but about developing the whole person—fostering resilience, respect, equality, and integrity. At Brigshaw, we strive to provide an environment that nurtures both personal growth and academic success, guiding our students from cradle to career.
Our staff at Brigshaw are dedicated to helping each student unlock their full potential by focusing on three key areas:
Fostering a sense of community and belonging: We create a school where every student feels valued, respected, and part of a larger, supportive community.
Supporting personal and social development: Education is about more than academics. By building resilience, we help students develop the confidence and self-belief they need to face challenges, learn from setbacks, and continually grow, both personally and socially.
Upholding high expectations and providing opportunities for growth: We believe in each student's potential and set high expectations to inspire them to achieve their best. By offering diverse opportunities for personal growth and helping students achieve great results in qualifications, we prepare them for lives of choice and opportunity.
Our most recent Ofsted Report (October 2024) judged us as a good school. Ofsted noted:
The school wants the very best for pupils. Pupils' improving outcomes are representative of the quality of education they receive.
The school has developed 'forge your greatness'. This approach is to help pupils feel they belong. Pupils understand that school is more than just the classroom experience.
Pupils enjoy a breadth of extra-curricular activities. Many pupils participate in a wide variety of clubs, including Chinese Mandarin, and choir. Such experiences broaden pupils' talents and interests.
Pupils learn to respect equality and learn important knowledge about the protected characteristics. They are proud of the 'not in our school' approach to tackle unwanted behaviours.
The school has effective approaches to help pupils maintain high attendance. Pupils enjoy 'be here, be great' activities. Fun events, such as karaoke, celebrate being present in the school.
The school, local school committee and trust have an accurate overview of the school. They are determined to give the pupils of Brigshaw High School a memorable experience. Adults in the school are proud to contribute to the aims for excellence.
We are part of the Brigshaw Learning Partnership, a partnership of seven schools, working together to create outstanding learning opportunities for children and families in East Leeds. We are proud to be a family of over 3,000 students, 500 learning professionals, and 50 partner organisations.
Together, as a school community, we are committed to forging greatness — both in ourselves and in our students. We look forward to working with you as we continue to build a vibrant, thriving school that empowers each individual to succeed from cradle to career.
