What Is the Opportunity?
We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter to support our renewal book of property and casualty business from an assigned broker panel in the North of England, mainly around Manchester and Leeds. You will also support Development Underwriters in producing new business.
You will use your experience to make sound underwriting decisions, support the Branch in achieving financial goals through service, retention, and responsiveness to submissions. You will collaborate with teams across regions, provide leadership and coaching, and may work on a hybrid basis according to our policy. This role offers a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses.
What Will You Do?
* Underwrite and assess risk to maximize growth and profitability.
* Handle complex accounts, consider different approaches to risks.
* Make prompt, sound decisions within authority, negotiate terms.
* Understand and execute underwriting strategies to meet results.
* Manage your book of business, maintain quality, growth, and profit.
* Ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
* Provide expertise, coaching, and leadership as a Subject Matter Expert.
* Develop broker relationships, support sales activities.
* Collaborate across teams for business development.
* Participate in meetings, demonstrate excellent customer service.
* Lead and coach team members to meet goals.
* Review files, provide coaching, and ensure completion.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Degree preferred.
* Experience in underwriting.
* Knowledge of local insurance market and regulations.
* Technical underwriting knowledge.
* Strong analytical, judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.
* ACII qualification preferred.
What is a Must Have?
* Experience in Property and Casualty underwriting.
* Valid driving license.
