We currently have a Mon-Fri 9am - 5pm vacancy at our Oxford Road site, for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in the Specialist Biochemistry team. Band 5 would also be considered. Candidates must be in possession of an IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent to be appointed at Band 6.
The Directorate of Biochemistry operates across 4 sites with state-of-the-art equipment. Our Specialist Chemistry sections at Oxford Road boast international standard assays including Waters Mass Spectrometry, HPLC, RIA, ELISA, Calculi Analysis and other manual assays.
The post holder will act as a registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients to aid clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures within the specialist team at Oxford Road Campus, performing manual and semi-automated tests and commenting on and validating results in line with ISO 15189.
Responsibilities
* Perform a range of complex analytical procedures within the specialist Biochemistry team.
* Conduct manual and semi-automated tests and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
* Comment on laboratory results to support clinical diagnosis.
* Work within a team across the Oxford Road Campus and contribute to service development.
Qualifications and Experience
* Specialist Biochemistry experience post-registration (preferred).
* Experience in LCMS, ICPMS, HPLC and other specialist assays.
* IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent required for Band 6; appointments at Band 5 may be considered for those working towards the specialist portfolio.
