Would you like to work for an inclusive and collaborative company, recognised as one of the most successful in the UK infrastructure industry?This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of Engineering Manager for substation-related projects across Scotland.Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager - Substations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of internal and external engineering resources, ensuring project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in line with project requirements.This is a key role supporting business growth following major framework wins.The Candidate:Minimum 5 years' experience in HV substation projects (400kV)Strong substation design experienceElectrical qualifications such as BEng or MEngChartered or working towards Chartered status with the IET (preferred)GIS experienceThe Role:Engineering Management: Lead engineering activities during pre-contract and delivery stages.Resource Allocation: Work with Operations Directors to identify and allocate resources for temporary works and engineering requirements.Customer Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for customers, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring project satisfaction.Compliance & Safety: Ensure all projects comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations tailored to customer and contract needs.Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee relationships with consulting engineers and internal teams, managing design agreements and engineering deliverables.Pre-Contract Support: Assist the Pre-Contract Director in securing design resources for future bids.Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing across the business.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to CDM regulations and industry best practices.Tender & Bid Support: Support pre-contract activities, including tender reviews, client presentations, and bid submissions.Project Mobilisation: Work alongside Operations Directors to ensure smooth mobilisation of new contracts, including HSEQ planning.Audits & Reporting: Conduct audits and generate reports to ensure quality and environmental compliance.Training & Development: Manage engineering administration, ensuring training and competency records are maintained.Industry Representation: Represent the business in industry forums as agreed with senior leadership.What's in it for you?A range of benefits are available, including:Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy additional leaveFlexible and adaptable working optionsFamily-friendly policies supporting work-life balanceMentoring programmes and continuous learning opportunitiesContributory pension schemeAnnual bonus schemeRecognition schemes and long-service awardsCar scheme and private medical insurance (where applicable)Access to share-save schemes, cycle-to-work schemes, and discounted gym membershipsEmployee support and wellbeing services for you and your familyAbout the BusinessMy client has extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management solutions for major UK energy companies and network operators.
