Job Overview
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership provides Clinical Logistics Transport Service across all Health Boards in Wales via its Health Courier Service, and is seeking a Stores Operative/HGV Driver to join this service based in the Bridgend area, serving South Wales. On average, the service sorts (via its own mail sorting hubs), delivers and collects over 120,000 items of mail/medical notes per week, and transports in excess of 5 million movements of samples of Blood Products and Pathology in accordance with Accord Dangereux Routier, Good Manufacturing Practice & legislative requirements per year.
Responsibilities
* Stock items in stores centres and ensure the safe and secure transport, distribution and replenishment of NHS Pathology, Blood/Blood Products, Secure and Non-Secure Stationery, Laundry, Mail/Records and Stock items such as medical consumables (e.g. needles/syringes/containers).
* Deliver to and collect from primary health care sites across NHS Wales (Hospitals, GP practices, pharmacies, opticians, dental surgeries).
* Operate as part of the Health Courier Service Stores Operative/HGV Driver role with appropriate driving duties.
* Demonstrate sound geographical knowledge of the area served and maintain high standards of customer service.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential criteria
* HGV Cat C licence and CPC
* Full Driving Licence
* Experience driving a range of vans
* Dealing with customers
* Sound geographical knowledge of the area served
* Moving & Handling and Awareness of Health and Safety
Desirable criteria
* ADR Awareness
* Basic Knowledge of Vehicle Maintenance
Welsh Language
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Applicants may submit in Welsh without any disadvantage.
