Grid Engineer (Contract - 12 Months, Possible Extension)
£550-£650/day (Umbrella) | Remote | UK Travel (North East & Scotland)
We're looking for an experienced Grid Engineer to support a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects across the UK. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being at the centre of technical delivery. You'll play a key part in steering projects through the grid connection process and ensuring engineering excellence from early development through to operation.
🔧 What You'll Be Doing
Lead and manage the grid connection process across multiple renewable energy projects.
Oversee liabilities, securities, contractors and consultants, ensuring delivery is aligned with project timelines.
Produce and coordinate technical documentation, scopes of work, specifications, and commercial inputs.
Review and respond to technical, legal and commercial queries linked to grid offers and project delivery.
Represent the business in discussions with NGESO, DNOs, and industry stakeholders, staying on top of evolving grid requirements.
Ensure all grid-related activities meet strict Health & Safety and quality standards.
Support root-cause analysis, technical decision-making and urgent engineering challenges.
Drive continuous improvement across internal standards, procedures and engineering governance.
Collaborate closely with internal engineering, project delivery, and commercial teams to keep projects moving forward.📌 What You'll Bring
Proven experience managing UK grid connections from concept to delivery.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong knowledge of both distribution and transmission network requirements.
Background in the renewable energy sector, ideally across multiple technologies.
Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable travelling for site visits and occasional team meetings (North East & Scotland).
Full UK driving licence.Bonus skills: Power systems modelling experience.
