The Nurture Teacher will lead a specialist nurture provision designed to support pupils who require a nurturing, structured and aspirational introduction to secondary school. The role is central to enabling pupils to develop emotional security, positive learning behaviours and academic confidence, ensuring they are well prepared to access appropriate secondary pathways.
The Nurture Teacher will act as the constant teacher and key adult for a small cohort of pupils, delivering the majority of the curriculum within a newly developed, purpose-built nurture room. Subject specialists will contribute across the week to provide curriculum expertise and protected PPA time, while maintaining consistency and coherence for pupils.

Sunnydown School is an oversubscribed and very successful secondary special educational needs school based in Caterham, Surrey. We cater for young men with autism with high communication and interaction needs who are academically able. All of our students have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). We have a team of outstanding and committed teachers and teaching assistants who deliver transformational learning experiences in a variety of national curriculum subjects.
You must have experience of teaching pupils with additional needs, SEMH or transition challenges. Applications are accepted from unqualified teachers, although qualified teacher status is preferable.
