SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition).
Sitting in the Consumer Investments (CI) directorate, the Advisers, Wealth and Pensions (AWP) department is focused on reducing harm from poor advice, scams, and financial crime, while promoting consumer protection, sector sustainability, and better outcomes through regional engagement and cross-team collaboration.
Role responsibilities
* Manage reactive casework efficiently to ensure cases are concluded in a timely manner
* Address issues and mitigate harms through curiosity, effective engagement and good judgement
* Triage and evaluate reactive cases when required
* Share knowledge and experience across the team
* Participate in wider team and / or department work as required
Skills required
Minimum:
* Prior experience of managing a caseload
* Regulatory or industry experience in one of the following sectors:
* Financial Advice
* Wealth Management
* Investment Platforms
* SIPPs
Essential:
* Ability to build effective working relationships and persuade others
* Works well with others and takes an inclusive approach to work
* Clear and effective communicator
* A clear sense of accountability - you take responsibility for your work
* Effectively manage priorities which may change at short notice
* A sound understanding of the sectors in CI (or willingness to learn) including some knowledge of retail investment products and services, and the key risks posed by firms
