Responsibilities
As a Senior Town Planner, you will:
* Lead and manage planning applications, appeals, and development proposals across a variety of sectors.
* Provide expert advice and guidance to clients, stakeholders, and colleagues on planning policies, regulations, and strategies.
* Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments to support project development.
* Prepare and submit high-quality planning reports, statements, and documentation.
* Represent the company at public consultations, planning committees, and stakeholder meetings.
* Stay updated on changes in planning legislation and policy to ensure compliance and best practices.
* Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
* A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
* Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility to achieve this status.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a planning role, preferably within a consultancy or local authority setting.
* Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
* A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a keen eye for detail.
* A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel as required.
Day-to-Day
Your typical day as a Senior Town Planner will involve:
* Collaborating with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
* Conducting site visits and assessments to gather critical information for planning applications.
* Preparing detailed planning submissions and liaising with local authorities to secure approvals.
* Attending meetings with clients, project teams, and external consultants to discuss project progress and strategies.
* Reviewing and interpreting planning policies to provide informed advice and recommendations.
* Supporting the team in business development activities, including preparing proposals and attending networking events.
