About the team

You will be part of the Community, Health and Wellbeing team within the Public Health and Wellbeing Directorate at Gateshead Council. Our remit is to work closely with local communities, residents and partners to develop and deliver strategic programmes, projects, strategies and policies that address poverty, disadvantage and inequalities across Gateshead to improve the health and quality of life of our residents.


About the role

To support the HAF Programme Lead with the implementation and delivery of the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) for Gateshead, providing high quality holiday activities for eligible children and young people across Gateshead in line with the requirements from the Department for Education (DfE).

The role is responsible for ensuring that programme and project planning, development and activity is coordinated and delivers planned outcomes and benefits in line with the Council’s strategic objectives. You will develop and implement programme and project procedures to monitor and report on risk, change, benefits, finance and quality assurance as well as supporting HAF activity providers through the provision of resources and activities that contribute to the achievement of DfE outcomes. You will administer the grant application process, support with monitoring, recording, auditing and communication of project progress as well as support the HAF Programme Lead to ensure all HAF provision adheres to relevant policies, procedures and practices including Health & Safety, safeguarding and information governance.


Key criteria

Key criteria includes experience in customer‑facing, frontline service delivery of activity programmes for children and young people, research and data collection to support monitoring and evaluation requirements, excellent IT skills and written and oral communication skills and strong knowledge of Gateshead, local VCSE partners and the Department for Education Holiday Activities and Food Programme.
