Overview
Senior Design Manager - Leading Tier 1 main contractor - Major project - Surrey. This long-term freelance opportunity is for a minimum contract of 9 months on a major new build project in Surrey.
Project scope: a new build student accommodation project valued at circa £80m, associated with another new education building already well underway. The role will begin based in the regional office and will move to the site once construction commences, with a pattern of 4 days with the site team and 1 day working remotely or from the office.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the Design Management for the student accommodation project, supported by a Design Manager and a Document Controller.
* Report to the Project Director and participate in regular progress meetings with the Regional Design Manager.
* Lead design tasks on site, with initial focus on CDP and identifying key tasks to be carried out.
* Work within a live site environment, quickly integrate with the team and provide design support as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* UK construction qualification is essential.
* At least 10 years in contracting Design Management.
* Minimum 5 years in the role of Senior Design Manager.
* Experience with Tier 1 contractors and familiarity with project processes and procedures.
* Proven ability to manage and challenge decisions, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and work with production teams.
* Live within a commutable distance to the project in Surrey.
Contract & Location
Freelance Senior Design Manager. The role is based in Surrey with on-site involvement as the project progresses. Initial attendance in the regional office with site relocation to a 4/1 pattern as the project demands.
