1:1 Tutor – Supporting Permanently Excluded Students

Some young people need more than a timetable and a classroom. They need patience, consistency, and someone who believes in them, even when school hasn’t worked out.
We’re looking for experienced 1:1 Tutors to support permanently excluded (PEX) students across the Darlington area. This role is ideal for qualified teachers who want flexible, meaningful work that fits around other commitments.
The role:
You’ll deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to students in their homes or local community settings such as libraries and community hubs. Sessions can be face-to-face or online, depending on need. This is about rebuilding confidence, re-engaging learners, and making progress at the student’s pace.

* Qualified teachers (QTS, QTLS or equivalent)
* Teachers stepping back from full-time classroom roles

What we’re looking for:
* Qualified teacher status or equivalent teaching qualification
* Previous experience providing tuition or working 1:1 with permanently excluded students
* A calm, resilient approach and confidence working with complex needs and behaviours
* Ability to plan and deliver tailored learning sessions
* A full driving licence and access to a car, due to travel across the Darlington area
* A genuine commitment to relationship-led education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
