Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for an experiencedService Manager – Child Protection Advisors to workHaringey. The Service Manager for Child Protection Advisors will lead and manage the Child Protection Advisory Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred safeguarding practices. The role focuses on providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure effective management of child protection conferences and the safeguarding processes.
As the Service Manager, you will support and supervise a team of Child Protection Advisors, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, and local safeguarding policies.
Main responsibilities:
* Provide strategic leadership for the Child Protection Advisory Service, ensuring a consistent approach to safeguarding practices across the service.
* Line manage and supervise Child Protection Advisors, offering guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
* Monitor and manage team performance, ensuring delivery of high-quality safeguarding services.
* Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Oversee the coordination and facilitation of child protection conferences, ensuring they are conducted in line with statutory requirements and organisational policies.
* Ensure that child protection plans are robust, outcome-focused, and developed in collaboration with families and multi-agency partners.
* Act as a point of escalation for complex or contentious safeguarding cases, providing expert advice and decision-making support.
* Develop and implement quality assurance frameworks to monitor the effectiveness of child protection conferences and safeguarding processes.
* Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, including the Children Act 1989, and local safeguarding board policies.
* Lead on the analysis of data and trends related to child protection activity, reporting findings to senior leadership and informing service development.
Requirements of the Service Manager:
* Qualification: A degree or diploma in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience: Proven experience in child protection and statutory social work, particularly in conducting parenting capacity assessments. Experience in court report writing and multi-agency working is essential.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance, and the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Knowledge of attachment theory, child development, and family dynamics is crucial.
* Skills: Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong written skills for report writing and case documentation.
* Other: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
