Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A forward-thinking and high-performing 11–18 secondary school in Lincoln is seeking an exceptional Teacher of English who is also keen to contribute as a Literacy Lead across the school. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-regarded comprehensive with a strong academic focus, clear behaviour systems and a genuine commitment to improving literacy across all subjects.

-----------------------------------

The School

Situated in a well-established area of Lincoln, this secondary school serves a broad and aspirational community. The school has secured a strong Ofsted judgement in recent years and is known locally for its improving GCSE outcomes, calm learning environment and professional staff culture.

Senior leaders are highly visible, and systems are clear and consistent. Staff retention is strong, and the school has built a reputation for structured CPD, clear curriculum planning and sensible approaches to workload.

Recent investment has enhanced:

* The English and Humanities corridor with refurbished classrooms

* A central library and literacy hub used across year groups

* Digital teaching infrastructure in all classrooms

* Structured intervention programmes for KS3 and KS4

-----------------------------------

The English Department

English is a flagship subject within the school. GCSE English Language and Literature outcomes have shown steady improvement, with strong progress measures in recent years. A-Level English is also well-established, with students progressing to Russell Group universities.

The department operates with shared schemes of learning, consistent assessment frameworks and a clear literacy focus. Teachers collaborate regularly on curriculum planning and moderation.

Key strengths include:

* A carefully sequenced curriculum spanning canonical and diverse texts

* Dedicated time for collaborative planning and resource development

* Structured extended writing support across KS3 and KS4

* Clear exam preparation systems with modelling and feedback cycles

* Enrichment including debating, creative writing and theatre visits

-----------------------------------

The Literacy Lead Element

Alongside your teaching timetable, you will support whole-school literacy development. This includes:

* Supporting literacy strategies across departments

* Leading CPD sessions on reading and writing development

* Working with intervention teams on targeted literacy support

* Promoting a culture of reading across the school

This responsibility is supported by senior leadership and sits within a wider school improvement strategy.

-----------------------------------

The Role

You will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The school is seeking someone who combines strong subject knowledge with a passion for literacy and whole-school impact.

The ideal candidate will:

* Hold QTS and a relevant English qualification

* Demonstrate strong classroom practice and behaviour management

* Be confident modelling high-quality writing

* Show enthusiasm for leading literacy initiatives

* Value collaboration and professional dialogue

-----------------------------------

What the School Offers

* Structured CPD and leadership development

* Clear behaviour systems and supportive senior leadership

* Opportunities for progression into wider middle leadership

* A strong, collaborative English department

* A culture that values professional autonomy within clear expectations

-----------------------------------

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious English teacher who wants to combine excellent classroom practice with wider literacy leadership in a well-organised and supportive secondary school.
