Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time - Central Bedford
Location: Central Bedford
Start Date: September 2025 (or ASAP)
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:00pm, early finish on Fridays
Tradewind Recruitment are working with a number of specialist Primary SEN Schools in Central Bedford who are seeking full-time Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated teams from September. These roles are ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and ADHD.
The Schools
These inclusive and nurturing schools cater for pupils aged 4 to 11 with a range of learning and developmental needs. Each school is committed to personalised learning, emotional support and creating a safe, structured environment where children can thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Work closely with class teachers to support individual pupils or small groups with their learning and engagement
* Adapt learning activities and provide hands-on support to meet individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
* Support pupils with communication, attention, and sensory processing difficulties
* Promote independence, confidence, and positive routines in the classroom
* Collaborate with therapists, SENCOs and external professionals to provide holistic support
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children with ASD, MLD, ADHD, or other special educational needs
* A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
* Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
* A willingness to learn and adapt to different strategies and classroom approaches
* A background in education, care, youth work, or psychology is desirable but not essential
