Could you be the person who brings expertise, energy, and a collaborative spirit to help shape a safer, healthier future?
If you're someone who thrives on making a real impact in your community, enjoys blending technical expertise with people-focused collaboration, and finds energy in solving complex challenges to improve systems—then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
What's the role all about?
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Council Plan by providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters. You'll help shape and implement our health and safety strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice across all services.
You'll be part of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
What will your day look like?
As a Health and Safety Advisor, no two days will be the same. You'll be at the heart of ensuring safe working environments across the Council, schools, and partner organisations. From providing expert advice and supporting risk assessments to investigating incidents and recommending control measures, your role will be both varied and impactful. You'll deliver training sessions, briefings, and toolbox talks, audit facilities for compliance, and contribute to shaping health and safety policies and procedures. Whether you're representing the Council in stakeholder forums or conducting on-site inspections with essential equipment in hand, you'll be making a tangible difference every step of the way.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a confident and capable health and safety professional who brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the role. You'll hold a NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent), and ideally be a member of IOSH—TechIOSH, GradIOSH or CMIOSH. Your strong grasp of health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and risk management will be matched by your excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills. You'll be someone who can deliver technical advice with clarity, develop innovative solutions, and work flexibly—whether independently or as part of a collaborative team.
Why join us?
Because this isn't just a job—it's a chance to be part of something bigger. At North East Lincolnshire Council, you'll join a team that's passionate about making a real difference. You'll work in a supportive, inclusive environment where your expertise is valued, and your growth is encouraged.
