Lola Cars is a passionate and growing business specialising in the build of classic and vintage automobiles. We pride ourselves on our meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to preserving automotive history. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Build Technician to join our growing team. This role blends hands-on assembly skills with an understanding of vehicle development, contributing to the relaunch of iconic vehicles. You will have the chance to be involved in a diverse and interesting project, working alongside some very experienced team members with backgrounds across Formula 1, FE, Le Mans and Hypercar Manufacturers.
Role Responsibilities
Vehicle Assembly & Maintenance
Lead the assembly, servicing, and maintenance of race/road cars to exacting standards.
Oversee pre-event preparations, including suspension setup, engine installation, and bodywork fit adjustments.
Conduct post-event chassis strip, diagnosing issues, and implementing necessary repairs.
Lead low volume production working with all stake holders to achieve deadlines of the build plan.
Trackside Support & Race Operations
Responsibility for the preparation, maintenance and set up of cars at events and tests.
To attend all required events and to support build up and pack down of infrastructure.
Act as the lead mechanic during events, ensuring quick and efficient working practices.
Supervise and participate in pit stops, tyre changes, refuelling, and component swaps
Team Leadership & Training
Be an integral member of the team, assisting and supervising junior mechanics, providing training and technical guidance.
Assign tasks and oversee workshop operations to ensure efficiency and precision.
Maintain a high level of organization and discipline within the mechanical team.
Responsible for the cleanliness and condition of your work area, tools and equipment
Component Inspection & Inventory Management
Conduct thorough inspections of key components, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintenance schedules and to manufactures specifications.
Manage parts inventory, ordering replacements as needed to prevent downtime.
Maintain detailed logs of servicing, repairs, and parts used.
Report any reliability issues to the team
Collaboration with design
Assemble and install mechanical, electrical, and body components on classic vehicles using technical drawings and CAD.
Integrate new and prototype parts and systems into classic car build, ensuring proper fit, function, and aesthetics.
Collaborate with the engineering/design team to provide feedback on designs and identify potential improvements.
Education
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma, certification, or degree in Motorsport Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
Experience
5+ years of experience as a motorsport mechanic, or project/prototype roles
At least 2 years in a senior role.
Hands-on experience in professional motorsport series such as Formula 1, WEC, MotoGP, or GT racing.
Technical Skills
Expertise in high-performance engines, transmissions, suspension, and braking systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, telemetry systems, and fabrication equipment (air tools, grinders etc) and race/road car components
Must be proficient in using precision measuring devices.
Computer skills including Microsoft office programs: Excel, Word, Teams, One Note, Outlook, Share Point, One Drive.
Familiarity with basic workshop practices and safety protocols.
Soft Skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Ability to work under extreme pressure and tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Promote teamwork across departments.

Role Location & Hours:
The role will be based at the Silverstone, Lola Facility with travel to tests and races.
