About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading architectural glazing manufacturer based in North Acton. The company specialises in the design, fabrication and installation of high-performance aluminium glazing solutions, including slim-profile windows, sliding and pivot doors, rooflights and bespoke glass structures.
You will join the design team and play a pivotal role in shaping technically robust and visually elegant glazing products for a variety of residential and commercial applications.
Main Function of the Job
To design and manage architectural glazing projects from the initial design stage through to pre-production, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance with building regulations and seamless transition to manufacturing and installation.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
* Produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for custom windows, sliding and pivot doors, rooflights and other glazing systems.
* Manage designs from concept through pre-production, ensuring clarity for manufacturing and installation teams.
* Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors and clients to refine designs and resolve technical challenges.
* Attend site meetings and surveys as required to gather information and validate design solutions.
* Support production handover, liaising with fabrication and installation teams to ensure design intent is maintained on site.
* Maintain design records, standards documents and project CRM data with accuracy.
* Provide technical support and design assistance to sales and surveying teams.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
* Comply with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and complete relevant risk assessments.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 3 years’ professional design experience, ideally within the glazing, architectural aluminium or façade industry.
* Proficient in AutoCAD (2D) and comfortable producing 3D representations (any CAD/BIM tools advantageous).
* Strong understanding of building regulations, performance requirements and technical detailing for windows and doors.
* Good geometry skills with the ability to sketch concepts freehand.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
* Fluent written and spoken English.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
* Creative problem-solving ability and a proactive mindset.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working with limited supervision.
* 3D modelling capability and familiarity with advanced CAD/BIM tools.
* Experience conducting site surveys.
