Wood is recruiting for a Senior Software Developer to support a portfolio of high-profile technology projects in the UK. The position requires strong technical expertise in software design, development, and delivery, with a focus on building scalable and reliable solutions. Acting as the primary point of contact for all software development requirements, the role ensures clear communication and coordination across project teams.

Please note applicants must be able to pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

The Senior Software Developer will be accountable for the design, development, and maintenance of software applications, ensuring they are delivered to the required level of quality, performance, and security, and in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures, and standards.

Also, the Senior Software Developer will contribute to the development of existing and new applications to meet customer and business requirements.

Expected:

9. Minimum 2.1 Degree in Computer Science or related field

10. Have substantial professional experience utilising Microsoft .Net technologies, with full stack development experience as well as experience of developing APIs and microservices

11. Proven track record of full life-cycle development, including requirement gathering and analysis, design, implementation, deployment, testing and maintenance with strong problem-solving skills

12. Have expertise in a range of testing approaches, unit and functional testing, and automating testing as part of a CI/CD pipeline

13. Proven working experience with Relational Databases and NoSQL databases

14. Solid understanding of design patterns and Object-Oriented programming

15. Secure coding practice in line with industry best practice such as OWASP

16. Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills

17. Ability to provide mentoring and coaching others and advocating for technical excellence while being open to change when needed

18. Comfortable with Agile methods, such as Scrum / Kanban

19. Working experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and ability to utilise Continuous Delivery and DevOps tools and practices to automate builds and deployments of software applications
