Construction Logistics Area Lead - NI 1142GRE Based SIAC – Bridgwater Rate £385 (PAYE) - £500 (Umbrella) Longterm contract EDF are leading the UK's Nuclear New Build Programme constructing a nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C, Somerset We are currently looking for a Construction Logistics Area Lead to be based in Bridgwater near the HPC project. The Logistics team delivers overarching command and control as well as acting as a centre of excellence for the end to end logistics process at HPC. We are the intelligent owners of the logistics process and strategy, operating as an integrated enabler for the successful delivery of the HPC project. The Construction Logistics Lead reports directly to the Senior Construction Logistics Manager and is responsible to oversee and manage the logistics operations for the delivery of permanent materials for designated construction areas. The role ensures alignment between construction schedules and logistics workflows, prioritizing safety, compliance, and efficiency to support timely project delivery. The role of Construction Logistics Lead is accountable for ensuring the effective delivery of materials where they are needed on site, and prioritising cross-Project demand for Logistics services.In addition, the lead will aim to deliver seamless Logistics support for construction activities and will be allocated to a specific construction area. They will lead the Construction Logistics team within the functional scope of their specific construction area and are taking direct line management responsibility of a team which is currently under design. Logistics is aligned to serve its vision of ‘Right materials, right place and right time for the safe and timely build of the Project’ and the mission ‘delivering collaborative, agile, and reliable E2E Logistics, underpinned by brilliant fundamentals, to ensure nuclear safety and Project success’. The Logistics function will deliver on Operational Excellence, aiming to offer a high-quality cross-Project Logistics service with standardised processes, to optimise efficiency through common ways of working, and a more integrated Logistics organisation to serve the needs of the Project schedule and the range of Logistics’ customers. Responsibilities Analyse and assimilate information to identify key risks and make evidence-based decisions to drive Logistics strategy Manage teams of employees and embedded contractors in the production and maintenance of accurate Construction Logistics reporting Conduct regular performance reviews of 3PLs and their area Construction Logistics and drive improvements against defined KPIs to support the Senior Construction Logistics Manager. Identify current and future risks to Construction Logistics i.e. capacity problems and mitigate risks effectively Proactively seeking to continuously improve Construction Logistics performance by implementing best practice and learning Skills Experienced in Logistics planning and operations, especially for Major Capital projects, in the construction industry, or other relevant industry Critical understanding of how the impact of changes/decisions may impact the risk profile of the project and Construction Logistics delivery or Balance of plant Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills Demonstrable experience in effectively communicating complex issues and concepts (unique insights) in simple ways, to both technical and non-technical senior audiences Strong organisational and time management skills Demonstrable experience in effectively collaborating with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes Qualifications & Experience: Preferrable for Logistics Specific Qualifications or equivalent industry experience At least 5 years management level experience leading a Logistics team in a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear, aerospace, logistics construction, large infrastructure logistics or energy) working in a role, which requires active integration management and senior level influencing with multiple stakeholders Experience of practical application of Logistics frameworks and methodologies, and how they are applied in infrastructure projects to deliver positive business outcomes Expert in Logistics technology solutions with experience of managing the implementation and effective delivery of complex projects using these software solutions Proven leadership experience and experience of supporting a team to maximise the delivery of a team Detailed understanding of Logistics management methodologies and techniques Detailed knowledge of estimating, scheduling, change management, cost management and risk management techniques Working knowledge of Logistics risk analysis techniques
