Operations Director
£70,000 Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus + Pension + Benefits

Alecto Recruitment Ltd are currently seeking an experienced Operations Director to join a reputable client of ours - and who are a leading Trade Association and Training Provider within the Engineering and Technical Services sector.
Your role will be to take ownership of internal operations across the business. Lead from the front, influence strategic decisions, and ensure exceptional service delivery to a vibrant membership community.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with similar experience within an Engineering Training Provider, Institute, Trade Association, or Professional Body.
The role is primarily office based therefore you will need to live in a commutable distance of Cambridgeshire, areas surrounding such as Peterborough, Northampton, St Neots, Huntingdon, Bedford etc. would all work well.
What You'll Be Doing
As the Operations Director, you will be at the heart of day‑to‑day performance. Your leadership will shape:
Team Leadership
Lead teams across Learning & Development, Technical Compliance, and Office Support.
Support team managers, develop capability, and build a motivating, collaborative culture.
Lead recruitment, performance reviews, and staff development initiatives.
Monitor KPIs and performance, ensuring high‑quality and efficient services.Member & Stakeholder Support
Align internal operations with member‑facing activity, events, training, and communications.
Act as a senior point of escalation for operational matters impacting member experience.Governance & Compliance
Maintain strong operational policies, risk management, and internal controls.
Ensure the organisation remains compliant with legal, regulatory, and contractual standards.Budget & Resource Management
Manage supplier relationships and procurement activities.
Contribute to annual budgeting and cost‑control planning.
What We Are Looking For
Senior operational leadership experience (Operations Director, Head of Operations, General Manager, etc.).
Experience within a membership organisation, professional body, training provider, engineering/technical environment, or similar.
Strong track record of improving performance and implementing KPIs.
Excellent people‑leadership and communication skills.
Experienced in P&L, managing budgets, suppliers, and internal processes.
Experience in Learning & Development operations or technical compliance desirable.
Leadership/management qualifications (e.g., CMI or similar) desirable.
