Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive specialist school and college in Chelmsford, Essex.
About the Role:
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support children and young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will help create a positive and nurturing learning environment, assisting students both inside and outside the classroom to access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND
2. Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
3. Support students with communication, sensory, behavioural and physical needs
4. Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
5. Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to meet pupils' needs
6. Encourage independence and build students' confidence and social skills
About You:
7. Experience of working with children or young adults with SEND is desirable but not essential
8. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
10. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
11. Willingness to learn and engage in professional development
12. Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are an advantage but not essential
