Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident, proactive Cover Supervisor to provide PE and general lesson cover within a mainstream secondary school in Durham. This role suits someone passionate about supporting young people and excels in behaviour focused environments. You'll play a vital role in maintaining consistency, structure, and high expectations across the learning day. A strong presence, calm approach, and the ability to positively manage behaviour are essential, particularly during PE sessions where engagement and regulation are key. What you'll be doing: Supervising PE lessons and providing general cover across the curriculum as required Delivering pre planned work and ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task Implementing clear and consistent behaviour strategies Promoting positive behaviour, teamwork, and respect, particularly within physical activities Maintaining a safe, structured, and purposeful learning environment Building strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams You need: Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour Confidence leading groups, including in PE and active settings Calm, assertive, and consistent behaviour management Adaptability and comfort covering a range of subjects Resilience, reliability, and composure under pressure Genuine interest in supporting pupils who may struggle in mainstream education This is a full time, term time position offering a rewarding opportunity to positively impact pupils' behaviour, engagement, and confidence.
