Location: North Wyke Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time (37 hours per week) We are seeking a Health, Safety & Compliance Advisor to provide site‑based health and safety and compliance support at North Wyke. The postholder will act as the main point of contact for health and safety matters on site, supporting a range of operational environments including laboratories, farms, workshops, buildings and shared technical facilities. The role focuses on safety, compliance and the practical application of statutory and organisational requirements. The postholder will work closely with managers, supervisors, researchers and facilities teams, and liaise with central Health, Safety, Biosafety and Quality functions to ensure consistent standards are applied. This is a non‑line‑management role. Key responsibilities Provide health and safety and compliance advice across the North Wyke site Carry out inspections, audits and compliance checks Support and/or lead incident, near‑miss and hazard investigations Develop, review and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work Provide compliance oversight for shared laboratory and regulated research environments Support managers to address non‑compliance and implement corrective actions Assist with regulatory inspections, audits and assurance visits Essential criteria Relevant experience in a health and safety, compliance or assurance role Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including risk assessment and COSHH Experience of inspections, audits or investigations Ability to work independently and prioritise work based on risk Ability to provide clear, practical advice and maintain appropriate records Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme Disability Confident About Disability Confident A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer.
