Applications are invited for a General Paediatric Consultant to join a team of Acute General Paediatricians at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, North Wales.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a positive approach to join our supportive team, bringing a specialist interest in Cystic Fibrosis and a willingness to take on the lead role in safeguarding within acute children’s services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
* Be responsible for the management, appraisal, and supervision of Junior Doctors.
* Maintain personal and professional development, register with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for CME and CPD, and fulfil registration requirements.
* Provide expert advice to the Executive Team, Board, General Practitioners, and other stakeholders on the planning and delivery of clinical services at local, regional, and national levels, in accordance with confidentiality agreements.
* Share responsibility with other Consultants for the recruitment, appointment and supervision of Junior Medical staff in accordance with Health Board policies.
* Devote time to teaching and training of Junior Medical staff, contributing to Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education.
In addition to regular outpatient clinics, the post includes active participation in clinical governance and management responsibilities, which will be developed through the job planning process. Study leave is fully supported, and attendance at regular departmental meetings is incorporated into the timetable.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
* GMC Specialist Registration in Paediatrics or within 6 months of obtaining CCT from date of interview
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* Newborn Life Support provider course
* Advanced/European Paediatric Life Support provider course
* Valid Level 3 Safeguarding training
Desirable criteria
* MSc, MD, PhD or equivalent higher degree
* Evidence of Management Training
Management and Leadership
Essential Criteria
* Provide leadership for the Cystic Fibrosis Service and take on the safeguarding lead role within Acute Children’s Services
Desirable criteria
* Take on the role of Respiratory Lead, including responsibility for asthma
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience or willingness to develop subspecialty experience in respiratory, including CF
* Experience of working as part of the management team
* Evidence of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Experience of liaising with other agencies e.g., Child Protection agencies
* Evidence of initiating, progressing, and completing audits
* Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Desirable criteria
* Experience of research
* Neonatal Experience beyond core training
