An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic nurse leader, passionate about improving care for patients with cardiac and respiratory disease at Royal Brompton & Harefield hospitals (RBHH).
The postholders main role will be to lead and manage the established research delivery teams in at both hospital sites and help develop a portfolio of high-quality research studies. The portfolio includes both commercial and non-commercial research. The post holder will also provide professional oversight and development to clinical research delivery staff at Royal Brompton & Harefield hospitals .
The successful candidate will be an expert research nurse with proven leadership skills, flexibility and excellent organisational skills. You will by supported by Head of Research Delivery at RBHH, as well a network of Research Matrons and Managers, and have the opportunity for professional development.

1. Visible professional and clinical leadership for clinical research delivery staff.
2. Ensuring the highest standard of patient care, good clinical research practice standards
3. Ensuring excellent performance on delivery of the cardiac and respiratory research portfolio at Royal Brompton & Harefield hospitals

Essential criteria
4. Able to recruit to, support and develop a specialist nursing service provision
5. Able to develop specialist procedure protocols and adhere to all Trust policies and standard operating procedures
6. Experience of managing a team and of line managing research nurses.
7. Able to teach/deliver core training of individual clinical trial/study protocols to junior members of staff
8. Able to deal with distressed patients and/ or relatives relating to the potential / real outcomes of their health and deal with the emotional consequences of patients coming to terms with long term conditions
Desirable criteria
9. Experience managing budgets and staff establishments
Previous experience
Essential criteria
10. considerable experience in clinical trials, teaching and mentoring
11. demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current UK clinical trial regulations, good clinical practice
12. experience of facilitating and undertaking R&D activities as major job component
13. You will be have the experience to deliver specialised programmes of care, and provide highly specialised advice for patients who are participating in clinical trials
14. considerable experience in the clinical environment working within the NHS
15. experience of managing a portfolio of research studies
Education / qualifications
Essential criteria
16. You will have NMC Level One Registration
17. Your professional knowledge acquired at degree level or equivalent
18. Continuing professional development including short courses to master’s level equivalent.

19. MSc qualification or currently studying towards one
