Overview:
This role is responsible for leading the Cloud Economics & FinOps Commercial Team across all aspects of Financial Management relating to Cloud Consumption (external and internal) and FinOps Commercial Management. Ensuring that implementation will deliver demonstratable benefits across Technology.
Key Accountabilities:
* Act as the evangelist for Cloud Economics & FinOps Financial Operations and promote adoption of Financial Operations principles and best practices within the organisation
* Partner and collaborate with GBGF leads to maximise effectiveness of the Cloud Economics & FinOps Commercial Team to deliver against HSBC’s Financial Operations strategy and establish industry best practices for Cloud Economics and FinOps commercial management
* Implement and embed the forecasting of cloud costs strategy and share trends in cloud spend/consumption to benefit Technology and future Financial Operations and provide briefings with insightful commentary to aid discussion of performance at a GBGF and Executive level.
* Empower value streams, platforms and the business, where appropriate, to take accountability of their individual cloud forecasts and budgets
* Develop and drive the implementation of guidance and teaching aids for budget owners, business and technical teams so they understand how best to track and manage cloud spend against their budget
* Develop and drive the Marketplace purchases process, across all 3 CSP’s, working closely with Procurement, the GBGFs and the CSP’s
* Partner with value streams, platforms and the business, where appropriate, to develop and drive cloud spend management and governance, promoting best practices in forecasting and budgeting
* Deliver cloud talks to upskill wider technology on cloud spend management and cost transparency for Public Cloud.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience of Financial and Business Management within a large enterprise level organisation is essential
* Knowledge and experience of core financial principles and practices (including Capex vs. Opex, P&L, run rates, forecasting, etc.)
* Experience of Cloud Financial Operations concepts and best practices (Certified FinOps Practitioner) would be ideal but not essential
* Outstanding analytical skills and ability to undertake detailed analysis and synthesize key issues from complex content in simple language into executive-level reports and presentations.
* Exceptional stakeholder management skills with an ability to develop strong relationships with senior leaders and business sponsors quickly which is essential ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way.
* Proven track record in managing and prioritising workloads for self and in a small team and have the ability to work flexibly at fast pace with limited information and respond quickly to multiple and changing priorities.
* Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills.
