Hours of Employment: 16 per week (Permanent). Overtime may be available.

Due to retirement we are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Medical Secretary to join our practice.
Proficiency in EMIS, Docman, Microsoft Office are advantageous (but not essential).
This is an exciting time to be involved in General Practice as new clinical working models are being implemented as well as the adoption of new technologies.
The underpinnings of all work within general practice is patient centred care and the successful candidate will need to support established and developing processes to improve outcomes for both the patient and the clinicians providing the care.
Daily work is often fast paced and therefore the ability to work under pressure, independently as well as part of multiple teams is an absolute must.

Main duties
* Support the clinical team in the timely recording of consultations, chronic disease checks, referrals and document management.
* Manage inbound and outbound calls to patients as part of the call and recall processes, ensuring that they are booked in to see the most appropriate clinician.
* Support the introduction of any new methodology or systems changes.
* To initiate and process electronic referrals.
* To process patient correspondences.
* Deal with Non-NHS administrative requests such as insurance reports, medical record requests etc.
Person Specification
Previous Experience:
* Previous administrative/clerical experience, ideally gained within a healthcare setting
* Experience with EMIS, Docman and Microsoft Office (desirable)
* Track record of data/information management using computerised / paper-based systems
* Experience of dealing with members of the public either face-to-face or over the telephone
Knowledge and skills:
* Excellent organisational skills
* Able to effectively manage and prioritise own workload
* Ability to work both within a team and independently
* Makes effective and considered decisions, but understands when to seek advice and guidance.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Punctual and reliable.
Salary rate will be dependant upon experience.
