Role Summary and Purpose
The Syndicate Financial Controller will be responsible for the Syndicate processes, creating and maintaining an environment of robust and effective financial reporting with strong processes, procedures, and controls.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Financial Reporting: Manage all aspects of the Syndicate Solvency II reporting process including the calculation of the Technical Provisions. Manage the production, review and sign off of Lloyd's quarterly and annual regulatory returns, including the production of the Syndicate accounts.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial reporting processes within the Workday system, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
• Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the Workday system, conducting regular audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard financial data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor and review control processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and other stakeholders. Clearly communicate financial information and provide explanations for variances and trends. Be the key point of contact for technical queries with regards to syndicate financial reporting.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with relevant regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with accounting standards, insurance regulations, and reporting guidelines.
• Team Leadership: Manage a team of financial professionals responsible for financial reporting. Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members.
• Board Reporting: Prepare papers for the Board and Audit Committees
Role Requirements & Skills
Skills / Competencies
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards (e.g., GAAP,).
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- ACCA, ACA, CIMA
Experience - Extensive Lloyd's experience in financial reporting
