This is an exciting time to join Sheffield City Council Children and Families Service, where we have reshaped the way we are working with young people who are in care or are on the edge of care.
This is an opportunity to be part of our innovative way of supporting our young people and families in Sheffield.
We are looking for residential childcare practitioners who are able to work days on a guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week and have flexibility to work more hours as and when required to cover sickness and annual leave which may also include covering waking night shifts. Enhanced rates of pay are applicable for working nights and additional enhancements for working weekends.
The role is to be a key worker for a young person providing the support and interventions young people need so that they can achieve their aspirations in life.
Additionally, you will provide support to young people within the residential setting. You will work within a defined culture and intervention practice model and will adopt a solution focussed and restorative approach.
The post holder will support young people and will provide all aspects of care needs and interventions, in line with the young people’s Care Plans and develop effective action plans with a focus on reducing risks and building on strengths. Key working is integral to the post; working ‘with’ young people to develop their resilience and life skills to enable them to successfully manage the transition to return to family, foster care or to live independently in the community.
