We are seeking an experienced scientist specialising in HDX-MS to join our Mass Spectrometry team within the Protein Structure and Biophysics Group in Slough, UK. The team provides critical project support from the initial adoption into the portfolio through to candidate selection of NBE and NCE therapeutics generated from our discovery platforms. Structural and mechanistic understanding of target and therapeutic molecule interactions are driven by our department using Mass Spectrometry, Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, SAXS, NMR, and other biophysical techniques. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in designing and executing HDX-MS experiments, demonstrating contextual understanding of their results alongside other structural data. We require an individual who can quickly integrate into our team, manage and prioritise demands from multiple projects, communicate clearly, and thrive within a highly motivated and multidisciplinary department.
Essential Experience
PhD or BSc with 5+ years of relevant laboratory-based experience in designing, executing, and analysing HDX-MS experiments for antibody/protein/ligand interactions.
Proficient in Waters data processing software packages (PLGS) and DynamX™.
Practical knowledge of Waters HDX-MS system.
Familiarity with structural visualisation tools (PyMOL, Chimera, or similar).
Experience with HDX-MS experiments using NBE and NCE molecules.
Excellent organisational, communication, record-keeping, and team-working abilities.Desirable Experience
HDX-MS analysis of membrane proteins.
Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Waters LC/MS equipment.
Practical ability with Native MS, ion mobility MS, SEC-MS, or intact mass LC/MS.
Proven track record of publications related to mass spectrometry in peer-reviewed journals.
Understanding of recombinant protein expression systems and PTMs.
