Overview

Applications from Allied Healthcare Professional (AHP) backgrounds are invited to apply for the post of Teaching Fellow to join the primary care education team for 24 months. This is a specialist role for a 24 month project to help with the development, delivery and resources of a new element of the curriculum and will inform the revalidation project team about the development and use of similar/further roles going forwards. The role supports the early years (1 & 2) of undergraduate medical education for students on the BM4/5/6/EU medical degree programmes with a focus on primary care elements such as early clinical examination, practical skills, communication and multidisciplinary team working as part of a new revalidated course.

On the BM4/5 programme, students study at Southampton General Hospital and on campus facilities. The BM6 programme is designed to widen participation in medicine. The BM(EU) programme includes two years in Southampton before returning to Kassel, Germany for the final years.

This opportunity offers an educational portfolio that includes leadership, teaching, curriculum design and assessment in the early years of the primary care components of BM4/5/6/EU programmes. The exact portfolio will depend on the successful applicant’s expertise, skills and experience.

The primary care team sits within the School of Primary Care, Population Science and Medical Education, within the Faculty of Medicine, offering a supportive environment with opportunities for collaboration and training. Responsibilities

Qualifications

* Applications from Allied Healthcare Professional (AHP) backgrounds.
* Experience in teaching, curriculum design or medical education is desirable but not required if accompanied by related expertise.
