Senior Clinical Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join a team dedicated to the maintenance and repair of a diverse range of medical devices, ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding complex information to staff at all levels, including consultants, nurse managers, nurses, healthcare professionals, and suppliers. They will also deliver a high-quality, rapid response service for patient-connected medical devices. Additional responsibilities will include offering repair services for highly complex and specialized medical devices at the component level. This work requires thorough analysis and interpretation, utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Main duties of the job
* To work under own initiative and organise complex programs of work as part of a team, but often working alone in isolated environments.
* To work following the departmental ISO 9001 quality system.
* Ensure all servicing tools and test equipment are functional and organise repair and maintenance as required.
* To participate as required in overtime duties.
* To participate in an out-of-hours emergency on call service.
* Examples of the types of medical devices are lasers, ultrasound, gamma cameras, anaesthetic machines, ventilators, renal dialysis and other types of complex life support devices.
* As there is direct patient contact and the post holder will work in environments where patients are undergoing treatment or in a patient's home, confidentiality is paramount.
* Participation in 'in house and external courses and seminars
* Undertake continuing professional development, maintain a professional portfolio and to have a commitment to the training and development of other professional colleagues.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering/Physics or an allied subject, or equivalent qualification and experience
* Extensive additional theoretical knowledge acquired through CPD (professional short courses, personal study, conferences) and professional training in relevant working environments.
* Professional registration (e.g., Incorporated Engineer; Registered Clinical Technologist, etc.).
Skills & Knowledge
* Full Uk driving License (Car)
Experience
* Significant post graduate (or equivalent) engineering experience working in a relevant field that has delivered knowledge to an equivalent level as a post graduate diploma.
* Significant experience of medical device servicing including fault finding and repair
* Experience of scheduled maintenance programmes and in meeting targets
* Medical Device Specialist training courses
* Experience of working within a Quality System
* Experience of teaching and training
* In depth understanding of medical equipment management within NHS hospitals
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Proven ability to work under pressure and meet targets
* To be able to plan workloads
* Competent user of IT tools such as office and database applications etc.
* An up-to-date awareness of relevant guidelines and regulations
