Job Summary
The Optical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of an optical practice. This position involves assisting with patient care, managing laboratory tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in optics and be committed to providing exceptional service to patients.
Duties
* Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming environment.
* Conduct preliminary eye tests and gather patient history for optometrists.
* Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all tools are clean and functional.
* Assist in the fabrication of lenses and frames as per specifications.
* Manage inventory of optical supplies, placing orders when necessary.
* Provide information to patients regarding eyewear options and care instructions.
* Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and laboratory work.
* Collaborate with optometrists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Skills
* Laboratory experience is highly desirable, particularly in an optical or medical setting.
* Knowledge of anatomy, particularly related to the eye and visual system, is beneficial.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
* Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in measurements and patient records.
* Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
