Lead and coordinate all administrative aspects of referee administration and appointments for WRU-related competitions, including logistics and planning for major fixtures.

Closing Date: 13 January 2026

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Location: Principality Stadium, Cardiff / WRU National Centre of Excellence, Hensol

Contract: Permanent (subject to 6‑month probation)

Hours: 35 per week, Monday‑Friday 9 am‑5 pm; flexible, evenings and weekends as required

Reporting to: Regulatory & Competitions Manager / Match Official Development Lead


The Person


Essential knowledge, skills and experience

* Strong track record in an administrative support position
* Experience with WRU Match Officials
* Experience managing online databases (accurate data entry and report writing)
* Strong interpersonal and relationship‑management skills
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
* Excellent IT skills – Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to communicate and work in Welsh is desirable


Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

* Oversee and manage costs from external tournaments related to referees, including elite officials’ income and expenditure across WRU, EPCR, and URC competitions.
* Act as a key liaison with high‑profile stakeholders – professional clubs, community clubs, and both professional and community referees.
* Oversee and approve match‑official travel arrangements across both community and performance departments.
* Organise and present at all WRU regional referee conferences.
* Coordinate all WRU Level 3 Match Officials appointments, communicate to officials and clubs monthly, including daily amendments and updates in the WRU admin database.
* Coordinate all Level 3 Advisor appointments and communicate monthly, with daily amendments.
* Maintain the WRU admin database – ensure correct fixtures for rapid result entry via the referee’s mobile app.
* Process weekly reports sent by advisors.
* Communicate weekly with all match officials and clubs regarding updates, law changes, and documentation – Game Locker/Newsletter format.
* Process expense claims from advisors and referees monthly.
* Carry out duties in support of the WRU Group Strategic Mission, Purpose and Values.

WRU Requirements

Proficiency in IT skills, particularly Microsoft packages; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders; ability to communicate in Welsh; valid UK Driver’s licence; basic DBS check.
