Who We Are
As NHS Scotland's provider of a national telehealth and telecare service, we deliver health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24/7. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing triage, advice, guidance, referral, and health information.
We have six regional centres – Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Hillington, Cardonald, and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any regional centre. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to attend if required and able to travel to other centres for meetings, training, etc.
The Role
The post holder will manage NHS 24's cloud architecture, working with internal technical experts and third-party suppliers to ensure effective deployment supporting business needs. They will act as the main contact for third-party suppliers regarding cloud architecture and manage changes within the NHS 24 application suite.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and manage the cloud architecture, collaborating with third-party suppliers and partner organizations like the Scottish Ambulance Service.
2. Work with key suppliers to design and build cloud solutions supporting NHS 24’s processes, focusing on security, performance, and cost optimization.
3. Define and implement cloud technology changes within the NHS 24 application suite.
4. Provide detailed reports on cloud architecture and technologies to senior management.
5. Document and maintain the cloud architecture landscape, updating it as changes occur.
Successful Applicant will:
* Have a degree in a relevant area and extensive experience in a related field.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, security, automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
* Extensive experience working within the software development lifecycle.
* Ability to explain technical aspects to non-technical professionals.
* Development and maintenance experience with cloud technologies, including DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Benefits
NHS 24 offers a permanent Band 7 contract with a salary from £50,861 to £59,159 per annum. Benefits include 35-41 days of annual leave, development opportunities, enhanced holiday pay, pension scheme, NHS discounts, and employee support programs.
