Overview
As Ultrasound Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of skilled sonographers across four sites: Arrowe Park, St Catherine's, Victoria Central, and the Clatterbridge Diagnostic Centre. You will oversee the delivery of a comprehensive 7-day ultrasound service, including general and obstetric imaging, and subspecialties such as musculoskeletal (MSK), head and neck, and paediatrics. You will maintain high standards of patient care, clinical excellence, and foster a positive, collaborative working environment.
To succeed in this role, you should possess strong organisational and leadership skills, with a deep understanding of operational processes within a clinical setting. Applicants must hold a recognised ultrasound qualification (PgCert, PgDip, or Direct-Entry Masters) and be eligible to work in the United Kingdom with HCPC, NMC, or equivalent registration.

Main duties
* Operational and professional management of a 24/7 ultrasound service across inpatient, outpatient, and GP referrals at four sites, including maternity services.
* Ensure the service meets national performance targets and supports ongoing service development.
* Lead audit activities and uphold standards in line with national and local guidelines. Assess service needs, plan effectively, and ensure targets and objectives are achieved.
* Manage a delegated budget and oversee HR for sonographers, clinical support workers (CSWs), chaperones, and student sonographers; lead on staff recruitment and training.
* Ensure full compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) and health and safety (H&S) standards across the service.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications, experience and training
* BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR Equivalent
* HCPC Registered
* Advanced Practitioner in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound with a postgraduate Masters qualification
* Significant experience in Ultrasound
* Previous managerial experience of a team of radiographers including management of staff rosters
* Experience in undertaking appraisals
* Evidence of involvement in service development or improvement projects
* Up-to-date CPD portfolio
Desirable
* Understanding of Performance Management in Radiology
Knowledge and Skills
* Good knowledge of the Radiology Service architecture
* Aware of national and local issues impacting the healthcare arena
