The Role
As Mammal Controller, your role will be to deliver effective and efficient mammal management in the woodlands on the Bolton Abbey Estate to allow successful establishment of plantations, and control mammal populations.
Responsibilities
* Carry out mammal control to ensure successful establishment of commercial and non-commercial plantations as directed by the Forestry Manager.
* Carry out mammal control to reduce the populations of squirrels, rabbits and hares on the estate.
* Work with the Forestry Manager to plan and budget cost effective mammal control.
* Keep cull records as directed by the Forestry Manager.
* Assist in the deer and squirrel impact surveys.
* Communicate with other stakeholders e.g. farmers/tenants before operations to ensure they are aware of and have approved the timing and location of your operations and take any pragmatic steps to mitigate any impacts on their operations.
About You
* You have relevant, up-to-date and proven experience in mammal management, including culling, census procedures, impact monitoring, collaborative culling/team operations.
* Experience of forest crop protection, including identifying types of damage.
* A valid British firearms certificate is essential for this role.
