<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>We are recruiting for a Fire Safety Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.</p><p>The Fire Safety Manager will provide expert professional advice, leadership, and operational management on all aspects of fire safety across the Trust. The post holder will ensure compliance with statutory fire safety legislation, NHS Fire code, Health Technical Memoranda (HTM), and Trust policies, supporting the Trust to meet its legal duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><p>The Fire Safety Manager will be responsible for strategic and tactical leadership to ensure North Bristol Trust provides a best-in-class fire safety provision to its staff, patients and visitors. This role sits within our Health and Safety Services team and reports into the Director of Operational Estates and Facilities.</p><ul><li>Oversee fire safety across the entire trust estate, including a large PFI estate and a retained estate with several offsite properties and many leased properties where we could be landlord or tenant.</li><li>Provide professional safety leadership and management to ensure that the Trust complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO)</li><li>Assume responsibilities as required in accordance with HTM 05-01: Managing Healthcare Fire Safety (Fire Safety Manager)</li><li>Act as the Estates & Facilities Directorate lead person in relation to providing advice on the management of fire safety matters</li><li>Manage the external Fire Safety Advisory team</li><li>Deliver fire safety training programmes to ensure Trust staff who occupy North Bristol NHS Trust premises are suitably trained for their area of responsibility</li><li>Monitor suitability of training programmes and participation rates for fire safety training to ensure Trust achieves fire safety training targets</li><li>Develop new and refresh existing fire safety training packages as required</li><li>Organise fire safety drills (including desktop scenario exercises) to monitor effectiveness of training and make recommendations for improvement opportunities</li><li>Lead and manage the implementation of the Trust’s fire risk assessment programme, including annual inspections of all properties</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Experience</h3><p><b>Essential criteria</b></p><ul><li>A minimum qualification of a relevant Masters degree in Science, Engineering or Fire Engineering/Fire Safety degree</li><li>Evidence of detailed knowledge and understanding of the entire suite of HTM’s, Building Regulations Documentation and other related estate and engineering best practice guidance documents</li><li>Must have substantive professional experience working in a senior fire safety position within the Healthcare Sector</li><li>Ability to interpret health and safety legislation and identify the implications for the Trust, diagnose highly complex problems and formulate corrective action at both strategic and local level</li><li>Ability to draft and develop strategies and policies, investigate incidents and provide comprehensive reports on findings and recommendations</li></ul><p><b>Desirable criteria</b></p><ul><li>Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in Healthcare Estates Management</li><li>Experience of working at corporate/senior level and influencing strategic direction</li><li>Excellent presentation and training skills with the ability to undertake presentations and training to a wide variety of staff both internally and externally</li></ul><h3>Benefits</h3><p>North Bristol NHS Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
