Overview
: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Mechanical Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will provide an effective engineering service to the production team, responding promptly to demands and maintaining equipment both proactively and reactively. Ensure factory performance meets targets and KPIs, improve equipment availability and performance to meet OEE targets, and accurately capture all engineering labour and parts using the PPM system (SAP).

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Respond quickly and safely to plant stoppages and breakdowns.
2. Maintain, adjust, and repair equipment for optimum performance.
3. Carry out planned maintenance and fault-finding on machinery.
4. Work with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
5. Ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets product specifications.
6. Collaborate with the Engineering leadership team and external engineers for improvements.
7. Comply with Health & Safety rules, including COSHH and LO/TO procedures.
8. Complete accurate documentation and PPM records in SAP.
9. Support training and assessment of staff on machine operation.
10. Contribute to energy reduction and environmental initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
11. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (Mechanical).
12. Recognised UK qualifications.
13. Previous experience in manufacturing operations.
14. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
15. Good standard of written and spoken English.
Desirable:
16. Experience in food processing or poultry machinery.
17. Welding (preferably TIG).
18. Knowledge of lean techniques and automated machinery.
19. Computer literacy and SAP experience.
20. 17th/18th Edition qualification.
