IT Engineer
Location: Wrexham
Salary: £35,000+
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:15, Friday: 08:00 – 16:15
Contract Type: Permanent
We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity within a leading manufacturing organisation, looking for an IT Engineer to join their IT team. This role will support the management of the company’s IT infrastructure and contribute to the development of bespoke software platforms. It offers excellent scope for career growth and hands-on experience in innovative IT solutions.
What you’ll be doing
* Provide IT support and day-to-day maintenance of systems across the organisation.
* Develop IT solutions and software applications using a range of programming languages.
* Manage and maintain:
* Active Directory, Windows and Ubuntu servers, SQL databases (SQL Server & MySQL), virtual machines (VMware, vSphere), backups, documentation systems, and NAS solutions.
* Microsoft Office 365 and Windows operating systems.
* Network devices including switches, firewalls, printers, and user endpoints.
* Software installations and ongoing hardware/software configuration.
* Support local and remote users across multiple offices via collaboration tools such as MS Teams.
* Assist with database management, system queries, and reporting.
What you’ll need to be successful
* Strong technical knowledge in:
* IT frameworks and documentation control
* Programming: PHP (Laravel), Python, C#.NET Core
* Network protocols, CLI tools, GitHub, Metabase, Visual Studio Code
* Cloud and IT management tools (e.g., Meraki, Jira, Confluence, Azure Data Studio, SharePoint)
* Windows Server (IIS, Print Server, File Server, Terminal Services)
* Virtual desktop infrastructure, AI system solutions, and BI report generation
* Understanding of IT security principles and prevention of security threats.
* Ability to communicate complex IT issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
About you
* Passionate about IT and technology innovation.
* Relevant IT qualification (HNC/HND or Degree) with 1–2 years’ experience in IT support or software development.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
