SLR’s Hydrology and Hydrogeology team offers comprehensive expertise in managing surface and groundwater challenges that are critical to the sustainability of new developments and existing operations. We work with customers operating in a wide range of sectors including renewable energy, circular economy and waste management, critical minerals and the built environment. Our team is 80 strong in the UK and comprises hydrologists, hydrogeologists, modellers, geochemists, water quality specialists and environmental scientists. Many of our team hold chartership with institutions such as the Geological Society, CIWEM and ISEP (formerly IEMA) and SLR is enthusiastic in supporting its staff to gain and maintain chartership. As well as having our own portfolio of clients, we work with colleagues in SLR’s advisory, engineering, environmental and planning service lines to deliver sustainable solutions for complex, multi-disciplinary projects related to major infrastructure and mineral extraction/restoration. We have team members situated at SLR’s offices throughout the UK and Ireland. The role This role will provide you with a perfect chance to develop the skills and knowledge you acquired during your degree/masters course – and to build on any placement or post-graduation commercial experience you have had. With support from senior colleagues, you will be involved in a wide range of tasks including: Hydrogeological data interpretation and preparing geological and hydrogeological Conceptual Site Models Assisting with the completion of hydrogeological assessments – such as Hydrogeological Risk Assessments and Hydrogeological Impact Appraisals – that would include analysis of monitoring data, completion of hydrogeological calculations, groundwater modelling and reporting Contributing to the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) water chapters Undertaking routine groundwater level, groundwater quality and surface water monitoring using manual and automated methods Maintaining and assuring databases of monitoring data Reviewing, interpreting and reporting the results of routine water monitoring Supervising borehole drilling, geological logging, well installation and hydrogeological testing The nature of the role and the locations of our clients mean that there would be site work that would require you to be away from home for short periods. In order to be successful, we would envisage that you would be able to demonstrate the following: A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification which focuses on Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences, and the drive and desire to build a successful career in hydrogeology and groundwater management Good IT skills, including MS Office and any experience or training in the use of GIS and hydrogeological modelling software would be a great advantage A desire to learn, and the ability to problem solve and work independently when required Good numeracy, written and verbal communication, and timekeeping abilities Full driving licence valid in the UK About us SLR are global leaders in Sustainability Solutions, helping our clients achieve their sustainability goals.
