As an Education Manager, your role will be to lead and manage the Prison Education Framework (PEF) and a staff group to maximise contract performance, deliver quality provision and exceed the expectations of partners and learners in line with the company ethos of ‘Improving Peoples Lives’.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maximising contract performance by fully understanding contractual obligations and performance targets, delivering the agreed curriculum and meeting quality assurance targets
* Developing the curriculum in line with needs of the prison population, local labour market and employer
* Ensuring quality assurance and quality improvement processes and procedures are in place and that they develop and sustain a culture of continuous service improvement
* Agreeing and setting targets with staff members to ensure both financial and contractual obligations are met and exceeded
* Effectively planning and controlling income and expenditure to ensure a profitable business by maximising contract performance
* Ensuring that all contracts are run in accordance with external and internal procedures, e.g. achieving low risk external and internal audits and accurate and timely claims
* Recruiting, managing, developing and maintaining discipline of staff employed in the department
* Responsibility for health, safety and wellbeing of staff and learners, maintenance and security of the department in line with prison and company policy
* Adhering to Safeguarding policies
* Maintaining and developing positive internal and external partnerships. Attend meetings with local partners as required
* Promoting equality of opportunity for staff and learners in all activities
* .Attendance at meetings, seminars and training sessions in pursuit of continuous personal development
* Identify development opportunities by sourcing and securing new leads in order to expand the income streams for the department
* PEF Education Managers need to remain flexible. Duties can vary at times dependent upon contractual and/or organisational requirements and location
* Contractual KPIs for success and performance to be met
* Prison based roles are 100% site based, with the expectation of prisoner face to face contact

Education, training and qualifications
* Relevant first degree and/or professional qualification, teaching qualificat
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
* The ability to demonstrate experience of successful curriculum development and change.
* Persuasive and supportive leadership and staff management skills to successfully manage performance and develop an achievement-focused team of teaching staff.
* Excellent communication skills and a creative and flexible approach towards achieving objectives and dead lines
* The ability to influence others and though a proactive style encourage innovation and problem solving through your team.

Experience:
* Experience of Quality Assurance.
* Substantial teaching experience as well as evidence of continuous professional development.
