Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-Ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and co-ordination across the organisation. The role will ensure adherence to our data management strategy, supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. The postholder will facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction, and support, contributing to service development and promoting best practices in service delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance, in collaboration with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Co-ordination
* Refine volunteer recruitment processes to meet organisational needs.
* Oversee the volunteer database and maintain it effectively.
* Manage volunteer needs inventory, match skills to projects, and track contributions.
* Process Access NI checks for relevant volunteers.
* Work with department leads to keep role descriptions, induction, training, and evaluation current.
* Organise and deliver relevant training in partnership with Service Leads.
* Develop new volunteer initiatives.
* Promote the service locally and in the wider community.
* Develop and maintain links with external agencies to raise awareness.
* Implement activities to promote volunteer retention and recognition.
* Maintain communication with volunteers, providing updates and feedback.
* Monitor and report on volunteer activities and impact.
* Stay updated on best practices in volunteer management.
* Support policy reviews and ensure compliance with best practices in volunteer development.
1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
* Develop and support monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
* Assist in developing case studies to capture volunteer experiences.
* Coordinate and disseminate annual volunteer satisfaction surveys.
* Ensure evaluation aligns with funding requirements.
2. Quality Assurance and Development
* Support review and development of volunteer policies and procedures.
* Ensure standards are maintained and make recommendations for improvements.
* Promote diversity and inclusion within volunteer engagement.
3. Data and Information Management
* Follow reporting mechanisms for data collection and management.
* Gather evidence to inform service provision and support fundraising.
* Analyze statistics to identify trends and ensure volunteer support.
* Ensure data compliance with GDPR.
4. External Relationships
* Build and develop stakeholder relationships.
* Attend external meetings as Cancer Focus NI lead for volunteer engagement.
* Develop new partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private organisations.
5. General
* Support volunteers as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Represent and promote Cancer Focus NI and its objectives.
* Promote existing services as appropriate.
* Perform other duties as required.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Experience in delivering training and organising events for volunteers or groups.
* Experience in managing people or volunteers.
* Relevant work experience with GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational and negotiation skills.
* IT proficiency, including spreadsheets and databases.
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
* Adaptability, empathy, and a supportive attitude.
* Commitment to the values of Cancer Focus NI.
* Full, current driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in health and social care, community engagement, or voluntary sector.
* Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
* Relevant management qualification (minimum NVQ Level 3).
