We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to work within our existing CAMHS Intensive Support Team (Mental Health) based in Shropshire

This service is part of a new multi-disciplinary team, specifically commissioned to work with autistic children and young people experiencing significant distress, who are at risk of hospital admission.

In the role you will work within the Thrive model “getting more help” by providing support to a small number of young people, their families and other stakeholders, in order to prevent poor health outcomes and to reduce hospital admissions, so that people remain in their local communities, getting the right support.

You will provide assessments and interventions to autistic children and young people experiencing a high level of distress, and who require specialist, trauma-informed intervention. Working within the remit of relevant local, national and professional guidelines, for example NICE guidelines.

Main duties of the job

* Take responsibility for the management of a complex caseload, which includes specialist assessment (within service specification), care planning in conjunction with young people and their carers, and the evaluation of individual treatment plans.
* Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including the auditing, monitoring and reviewing of practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
* Provide specialist OT clinical advice, assessment and interventions based on the young person’s occupational and functional needs. OT Interventions provided will be within the practitioner’s sphere of competency and within their major skill set. The use of Sensory assessments and interventions are seen as an integral part of service provision within the IMHST teams and you will work alongside an Advanced Sensory integration practitioner.
* Complete and contribute robust risk assessments and, where appropriate, risk management plans. Deliver and promote positive risk taking, where appropriate, to improve quality of life and maximise occupational performance/independence.
* Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on a young person’s conditions and progress against an agreed care plan.
* Utilise agreed outcome measures to review the effectiveness of interventions, as part of the care planning and evaluation process.
