The role
12 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose
To support the delivery of void property works by carrying out cleaning, clearance, and general labouring duties within empty residential and commercial properties. The postholder will assist trade operatives and contractors in preparing properties for refurbishment, repair, and reoccupation, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clear and clean vacant properties in preparation for refurbishment, repair, or re-letting.
- Remove furniture, household items, waste, debris, and other unwanted materials from void properties.
- Undertake general labouring duties to support building maintenance and repair activities.
- Assist skilled tradespeople with construction, maintenance, and refurbishment works as required.
- Load, unload, move, and store materials, tools, and equipment safely.
- Carry out basic property preparation tasks, including stripping out fixtures and fittings where required.
- Maintain clean and safe working areas within properties and on-site locations.
- Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work at all times.
- Report defects, hazards, or issues identified within properties to supervisors.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Support the achievement of service targets and deadlines relating to void property turnaround times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a labouring, property maintenance, construction, or void works environment.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
- Experience of property clearance and cleaning work is desirable.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements within a construction or maintenance setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work to deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a positive work ethic.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
